Job Description:

Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS is looking for an entry-level researcher to join the Intelligent Systems group and specialize in Computer Vision and Generative AI for medical image data.

As a researcher at AICOS you will work at the forefront of AI innovation, creating purposeful technologies that positively transform industries, promoting, social well-being and improving quality of life.

Your role:

  • Research and develop computer vision models for object detection, anomaly detection and semantic segmentation for medical image data;
  • Research and develop generative AI strategies for medical image data;
  • Research and implement computational approaches for auditing the quality of real and synthetic medical image data;
  • Deliver summarized reports about the developed models and provide proper software documentation.

Your profile:

Academic Master’s degree or equivalent academic qualifications in the area of Biomedical Engineering, Informatics and Computing Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related studies.

  • Excellent Python programming skills and experience in programming with widespread ML Frameworks (e.g., Sklearn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch);
  • Demonstrated Machine Learning background, with relevant hands-on experience in computer vision approaches for medical image data;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (technical and business audiences).
